“Giving back” and social responsibility is a strong driver for many employees. At Adare, we are passionate as a business to ensure that our employees are proud of what we do, not only in our day-to-day business, but as part of our wider impact on the environment, local communities and charities.
Our Logistics Team headed up by Pete Thornton, Adare’s Logistics Director, recently undertook a key project to move warehouse facilities and consolidate office space and in the process of doing so, generated excess office furniture that was too good to scrap. In the spirit of giving back, Pete and the team decided to look for other options for the furniture.
Having researched local community /charity programmes we were delighted to be able to donate a significant amount of surplus furniture to a local charitable cause – Men in Sheds in Milton Keynes.
The Shed looks to foster the health and well-being of men by providing facilities which enables them to meet, pursue hobbies, practical interests, share skills, learn new ones, help in community-based projects and develop new ideas.
Michael West, a Trustee of The Shed commented, “We are very grateful to Adare for this donation of furniture as it will help us further expand and utilise the space that we have.
We as an organisation receive no government funding and therefore require support from companies like Adare to donate, not just financially, but with physical donations which removes the need for a financial outlay from our limited funds.
Donations like this mean we can keep the charities core operation functioning.”
Tracy Ellison, Adare’s UK Managing Director also commented, “Giving back is in our DNA and I’m pleased that Michael and his team are able to use the furniture as the work they do is truly humbling! As part of our on-going commitment to social responsibility, Adare is delighted to continue supporting local groups and organisations.”
